dining in the Southwest
Spending one to two nights in each of the following towns:
San Antonio
Santa Fe
Carlsbad, nm
Looking for restaurants that aren't touristy. Any suggestions? Hole-in-the-walls are okay so long as they serve good food (where locals hang out).

Did you look at Fodor's Restaurant index? We ate at Cafe Pasqual on a corner in the center of town. If there really crowded you can sit at a large table in the center of the restaurant with other people, part of the charm. food was impressive. Fodor's reccomends Coyote Cafe. But I don't, too much "aren't we wonderful"

Recommendations for San Antonio:
1. Tomatillo's on Broadway near downtown
2. Rudy's BBQ at I-10 and Leon Springs (go to the Leon Springs Dance Hall afterwards!)
3. County Line BBQ on the Riverwalk or at I-10 and Huebner Road
4. Patio Cafe on Pat Booker Road near Randolph AFB.
