Dining in Niagara Falls and Toronto

Would like to know some good restaurants to try in Niagara Falls area? Is the Skylon Tower a good place to eat I was thinking of making resv there? Also will be in Toronto for 2 nts Any suggestions for good eating spots there? I also have question about the border From US to Canada at Niagara Falls, We will be driving How long should I allow for customs etc. Does it take long? We are first time visitors to Canada and are looking forward to a wonderful vacation in June. Thanks.

There are lots of good places to eat in the Niagara Region -- the Skylon is good BUT quite expensive (it has an amazing view of the falls and the dining room is revolving). I would say for an extra 15 minute drive, try some of the fare in Niagara-on-the-lake. It is very quaint here and much less crass and cheesy than Niagara Falls. Some good places in Niagara-on-the-Lake are the Oban Inn (on Front Street) and the Angel Inn. Just ask one of the locals for directions. Sorry I can't help you with Toronto - but in general, the harbourfront has a good reputation for good restaurants. By the way, allow about 10 minutes at customs, depending on what bridge you cross on -- Peace bridge is the busiest. Hope this helps -- enjoy Canada.

I like the Victoria Park Restaurant right along the falls. They have a porch that overlooks the falls and it's especially pretty at night when the falls are lit.

Here's a few suggestions for Toronto -- Rodney's Oyster House on Adelaide if you like Oysters (it's downstairs - sit at the bar and watch.) Scaramouche has a nice view of the city - sort of Cal/Ital cuisine (but expensive) The Italian area around around College and Clinton streets has many fine restaurants. For sechuan try Champion House on Dundas Street (right downtown) - their Peking Duck is considered the best in Toronto.

Have a great time!

Donna: Every time that I have been through customs in Canada, it has gone very fast. One time they checked our car, and the other time they just waved
us through. Have a wonderful trip, and I wonder why
your name looks familiar? Kathy

Ditto Mel's remark, the Victoria Falls restaurant was wonderful, get a table overlooking the falls...fantastic! Food was good, generous portions and reasonably priced. Once again, the atmosphere was superb. The Skylon Tower revolving restaurant wasn't too great. The view up there is good, but the food portions were SMALL and EXPENSIVE. What you get to see while dining all depends upon the table you get. It's better to go up high just to look around, then eat elsewhere.
Customs was no problem and fast, we often drove back and forth because we stayed on the U.S. side but visited things on the Canadian side. If they still offer it, purchase the bus ticket and you can ride it in comfort all day to different sights. You don't have to worry about parking your car.
Maid of the Mist is a must and the walk down to the American Falls (wish I remembered the tour name) but we had to wear yellow ponchos and it gets you down close to the falls where you can feel the force of the water spraying on you...lots of fun. Enjoy!

I have heard that the food at the CN tower in Toronto is quite good-plus it has a fantastic view-I think it revolves. Also the Canoe restaurant in Toronto is quite good with a great view. Chopstix and Rice is a good Chinese restaurant-on Adelaide and close to the Laugh Resort comedy club.

In the Falls, the view from the Canadian side is the best. The place really is tacky though and Niagara on the lake is a much better bet. Should be quite busy in June. The Angel Inn which someone suggested to you is quite good and reasonable and has a resident ghost.

Niagara on the lake is very pretty. But you may want to go to the skylon just for the view. In Toronto there are numerous restaurants; CN tower requires reservations; bamboo club for thai, Greek town which is danforth between pape and bayview has a place called the Ouzeria; little italy which was recommended for Italian; china town on Dundas and spadina is near the art gallery; Some of my favourite restaurants in Toronto include Left Bank on Spadina, grazzi's on yonge and egliton, Bloor st diner; yorkville has an italian place on the corner of yorkville and cumberland (very nice to see yorkville); There is so much to enjoy; you really cannot go wrong; I am from Toronto myself now living in Phoenix and I will be in Toronto from the 5'th to the 12'th on business; I can hardly wait...have a good time!
