Dells lodging/indoor waterpark info

Thinking of a trip to the Dells this winter and looking for some feedback as to where to stay for a long weekend. What's NICE, NEW and has the best indoor waterpark for a 4 & 8 year old looking for action. All opinions welcomed. Thanks!

Also, is there an indoor waterpark separate from hotels? How much is admission?

I wouldn't want to go to the dells in winter because most of the attractions are closed. In downtown Milwaukee the Hilton Hotel has a waterpark that they just opened last fall. It's really fun for the kids, and nice for adults too. Also in downtown Milwaukee there are a lot of great restaurants and theaters. There is a natural history museum, an art museum, and a childrens museum all within a mile of the hilton. At the Natural History museum there is an imax theate. At the library there is a discovery world which is a hands on science related learning experience for kids.

If you do go to the Dells, the two major hotel/waterpark complexes are the Black Wolf Lodge, which has a waterpark right inside, and Treasure Island, which connects via walkway to a HUGE indoor waterpark and offers free admission to same for resident guests at TI. It is true, that there is not much else to do in the Dells in winter unless you're into cross-country skiing.

Although there is more to do in the summer, Dells in the winter is becomming more lively. You might also want to check into The Wilderness hotel, they have a nice indoor park also. The Ho-Chunk Casino and The Crystal Grand are only a couple miles from there. In case you are unfamiliar, the Crystal Grand has country music shows with top name stars.

The black wolf lodge was bought out and is now called The Great Wolf Lodge. Also, the Kalahari is the third major indoor waterpark. Kalahari is
across the street from the Great Wolf. Both look wonderful, but make reservations early, as the indoor parks are so popular that sometimes you might have a hard time getting a room, even in the winter.

Also, it's not very advertised, but it is possible to buy a day pass to the indoor parks and stay at a different hotel.

www.lodging-wi.com

Both of these are excellent sites, especially the Wisconsin Innkeepers Assoc. - you can find toll free numbers to call, plus some of the accomodations can be made on-line.

If you like pizza, pasta or salad bars, I highly reccomend the Pizza Pub restaurant. Great food and reasonable prices!

Have Fun!
