DC accomodations for five needed

Hubby and I, along with grown daughter and her two sons (ages 9 & 12) are planning a week in Washington, D.C. in July. I'm looking for either a one-week vacation rental in the area or a two-bedroom "suite" type hotel.

The catch: We're on a tight budget.

Any ideas?

Many thanks!

There are no 2br "suite" type DC hotels. Even if there were, they would be in the $500/night range.

Here are four 2BR vacation rentals (by owner):

FYI,

I don't include the "Victorian Inn" and "Meridian Manor" because the per night price they list is "per bedroom"!!

Quick question - where did you find that great Wash-London rate?

I'm looking for a good one Wash-Frankfurt mid Sept. If you hear of one - please let me know.

Washington Suites Georgetown did, in fact, have a sort of 2 bedroom suite arrangement - actually a one true one-bedroom with full kitchen and living room - plus there was a way they could open up a door, close off a corridor door to allow a second bedroom to be part of that suite. Have no idea of cost, but doubt it would be in $500 range since we went in the summer 3 years ago, renting the one bedroom suite for an amount I do not remember - but less than $150.

Thanks, all. I've sent off an e-mail to a couple of the VRBO listings.

I'll also check out the WQashington Suites Georgetown.

I just booked our stay for september at the Harrington hotel. It's supposed to be the cheapest and best situated hotel in DC. We're paying 115 $ a night for 2 persons tax included. It's a room with two beds and the rest. Paul

Tovarich, thanks for the tip. I contacted Harrington and thy're booked solid that week. We're now considering different weeks.

Bardo1, VBRO had one that looked good, but it's also booked.--Thanks!

Gail: Washington Suites--also booked.

Looks like I waited too long. Will now consider alternative weeks.

THANKS EVERYONE!

I would recommend the Hampton Inn Reagan National Airport in Crystal City (Arlington). The rate looks to be $149 a night (incl. bfast) for a 1-bedroom-suite in July. The hotel is a block from the Metro, only a few stops from downtown, and convenient to many reasonable restaurants. It has an indoor pool & use of the outdoor pool next door at the Radisson, where I have stayed twice this spring. We have a family of 5 and often bring along an aerobed for one of us to sleep on!

You might consider the Embassy Suites. They have 1 bedroom suites with 2 beds (I forget if they are 2 doubles or 2 queens) and sofa bed in the living room. Breakfast is included in the price and we were very comfortable at the location on 22nd Street last summer.
