Day Trip Seward to Homer
Can anyone suggest a way to do a one-day round-trip from Seward to Homer without having to do the driving myself? Homer Tours offers a fully guided experience but I'm just seeking transport out and back. Homer Stage Line doesn't leave Seward until noon, and returns the following morning, making a round-trip in one day impossible. Should I be investigating flights? Boats? I'd stay over in Homer, but it just isn't an option for me this trip. Thanks for suggestions.

I would not want to make that long drive to/from Homer just for a day trip. Is this really worth it considering the time it will take traveling in addition to the very limited time you will have in Homer? What are you doing in Homer? Is it something you could do in Seward instead?
You have listed all the transportation options I am aware of, but maybe someone else will have some suggestions for you. Good luck with your planning!

I'm with BayouGal on this one. It is a long drive and there is no way you are going to have any time to experience what Homer is all about. If you HAVE to go to Homer for a couple of hours renting a car for one day is the only option or wait until your next visit to Alaska. Many visitors don't include Denali or Anchorage or Seward or Homer or Arctic Circle or Hatcher Pass or Kodiak or Valdez or many more great destinations because Alaska is huge, driving distances are tremendous and there is so much to see that sometimes it is difficult and painful to not be able to include certain places in your itinerary. What a great reason to plan your next trip.

Seward to Homer is at least a 3 hour drive so you would be looking a 6 or more hours on the road. If you could re-arrange your schedule there are commuter flights between Anchorage and Homer as a possibility. They don't fly to Homer.

This isn't a day trip and you are looking more at 4 hours each way with a couple brief stops. The scenery and little towns are worthwhile stops, and this trip shouldn't be a marathon. Go to Homer when you have more time or charter a flight.
