Dallas/Fort Worth dining

Hi everyone! Going to Dallas/Fort Worth this weekend with two daughters to look at SMU/TCU. Any wonderful restaurant/shopping/attraction suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi millsy5-

Shopping - NorthPark hands down. The best mall in Dallas.
http://www.northparkcenter.com/

Kona Grill and La Duni are decent sit-down serviced restaurants inside North Park. I also like La Madeleine - self service French cafe. Multiple locations including one inside North Park, and one right at SMU.

Attraction - King Tut is still at the DMA

Forgot to add for Fort Worth: My favorite place there is the Modern Art Museum. The Modern cafe inside has good food and nice setting (no admission needed for the cafe)

Millsy5. We live 3 blocks from SMU. Our favorite stores and restaurants are in the Knox/McKinney - streets about 8 blocks south of SMU. Katy jogging trail also runs from SMU through this area. Toulouse is great french bistro food - very fun - don't miss ordering a soufle for dessert. Also Momo's - next door - home made italian for for over 20 years. Ziziki's has great Italian food - Travis & Armstrong street. You have stores like Crate & Barrel, Froggie's Five & Dime Store, wine tasting bars, and Harry's frozen custard.

Northpark shopping is great - but all chain stores. We like small stores Preston Center - south side of intersection of Preston Road & Loop 12/Northwest Hwy - about 1 mile west of Northpark. Highland Park village has all the exclusive stores - wouldn't buy there, but very nice to walk around - Preston & Mockingbird - 1 mile west of SMU. We also prefer shopping in Inwood Village - SE corner of Inwood & Lovers Lane. Lots of interesting stores. No 1 Rise there is a great french soufle restaurant. Also Breadwinners is a very good. Both are relatively inexpensive.

Our college-bound student looked at TCU last fall - there is a Taco restaurant a few blocks away from campus - very fun - lots of character.

We like both SMU and TCU. Unfortunately too close to us for our daughter to want to attend.

Yes, Toulouse is great. Love the ambiance there. Its sister restaurant, Sangria, around the corner has great tapas.

We also love Harry's frozen custard. Their hotdots is good too!

Is West Village still full of boutiques? Just curious with the economy. I was there in November and seemed busy. I always enjoyed walking around there and having a drink at Cru or gelato at Paciugo's.

Love Toulouse. Fun area when it's warm and it should be this weekend. Mussels Meuniere is wonderful as is the goat cheese tart appetizer.

What's the latin/mexican place down the street from Toulouse on the west side? Can't remember the name but have enjoyed the food there very much.

Your bags are fake and you should not advertise on Fodors.

Trece! We've had very good experiences there.

Have you been around the arts district lately?

As yk said, the restaurant inside the Modern Art Museum is very good.

I also like The Reata in downtown Ft Worth.

FYI, there is a small outdoor shopping center a few miles north of TCU.

Fuzzy's Tacos is the taco shack near campus that was previously mentioned. Dutch's is right across University and serves a great burger. The Cafe at the Modern Art Museum offers a beautiful, serene atmosphere and good food. Nonna Tata is in the medical district nearby and is my favorite place in town....only 11 tables & BYOB, but fabulous Italian food.

Nonna Tata doesn't have a website, but here's a review from the DMN:
