Even if someone skims your credit card or debit card information, it will not ruin your credit or really be anymore than a temporary hiccup. You won't even lose any moreny because the bank fraud laws mean you are not liable for the stolen money. The bank has to put the money back into your account. And they will issue you new cards with new numbers - your account numbers remain the same.

When I travel overseas, I take ATM cards for 2 seperate accounts and 2 credit cards - that way if something gets lost, stolen, or compromised, I have back up.

I'd be more concerned about credit card scams in Los Angeles than I would in Paris. And your company will be insured if there is a loss.

If you want to have some money on you upon arrival, then the following exchange place is very good. I've used them since the early 90s for various currencies around the world. Sometimes I arrive into places around midnight, very jetlagged, and like having some cash on me.

Just call ahead and tell them how much you need and the money will be waiting for you.
