CT to PA- I 86 or I 80

driving from CT to Bradford, PA
heading out next Thursday but will have to return Monday/Labor Day

searches for driving directions give results of either

Rt17 to I86 in NY and then dropping down into PA just above Bradford

or I80 thru PA and then heading up to our destination

is one route better than the other??
estimated mileage/time to drive the same

welcome any thoughts, and thanks

What is your starting point in CT? Since Bradford is very close to NYS and I86, I would go I-84 to I-81 @ Scranton, to I-86, or use Rt17.

If you are in southern CT then I'd go across the Tappan Zee Bridge, take the Thruway North to exit 17 and pick up I84, or cut over to Rt17 from exit 16 Harriman

The I80 route will take you across the GWB and through NYC metro area both ways, which can be quite painful.

Just came across Binghamton, NY to Bradford last weekend. Recommend 17 to I-86, then 219 down to Bradford. Very little construction, pretty scenery, light traffic to your destination.

Olean,NY is the largest town prior
to coming into Bradford. I will have to find out the grocery stores there. Probably a Quality Market
and possibly/probably a TOPS Market.
Lots of good places to eat in Olean. There is a TOPS market right
in the middle of town in Bradford-quite decent sized. Anything in particular you are looking for grocery wise or restaurant ?
Sherri
P.S. If you want alcohol/wine, you can buy in New York State at
locally owned liquor stores (beer from a grocery store ). IN Pennsylvania, the liquor stores are
state run. SO hard alcohol/wines would be from the liquor store, beer
is purchased from locally owned 'beer distributors' .

Hands down, Beef 'n Barrel
146 N Union St
716 372 2985

Right in the middle of town.

TOPS Market in Olean, TOPS Market
in Bradford. The Bradford one is
probably easier for you to use
being closer to your final
destination. Bradford is not big,
and it is right off the exit. This
off course depends on the location
of the camp.

I have family in Olean. Tops in Bradford will actually be easier to reach than the one in Olean. It's a full-sized grocery store and you'll be all set. It's right off 219. You can probably find it on a mapping software as it has been there 8 years or so (as Tops anyway).
