June to September. Many different times for different kind of Salmon. I would do a bear viewing/salmon fishing trip. Or just bear viewing. Where there are bears there is fish, and where there is fish there is bears. for the most part, anyway. What part of Alaska were you wanting to do this from?

As Spiro said, salmon are running somewhere in Alaska at all times June (and sometimes May) through September (sometimes October). Depending on species, the same location may have two or more runs separated by period when none are running. The same location may also have periods when more than one species is running at the same time.

I presume you are asking because of possible shore excursions and understand that you will see little or nothing indicating salmon runs from your cruise ship.

Your best bet would be to get to the visitor's bureau web sites for whichever areas you plan to visit. They will almost always have indications of which kinds of salmon may be running and when.

It also makes a difference on where you will be?? IF this is only an Inside Passage cruise, and you want to see salmon from ports, you need to look at mid July and later.
