Crowne Plaza Club Level

Do you have any experience with the Crowne Plaza Club Level and what it offers? The price difference is $30 on a double. The website says the room has business work desk and the lounge offers soft drinks and continental breakfast. We'll be on vacation, so wondering if the upgrade is worth that much. (Yes, we already have the Priority Club membership. But we haven't stayed at a Holiday Inn since joining.)

The only club level I've stayed at was the manhattan crowne plaza on broadway. The rooms were upgraded, top floors. Decent continental breakfast, decent appetizers in the evening and even a desert served starting at 8 pm. I thought it was worth the extra money. E-mail the particular hotel to find out specifics.

I paid extra for the conceirge level at the Waldorf Towers. Definitely not worth it. The lounge with the food (which wasn't very good) and drinks in it were crowded 24 hours a day, and that was about the only extra that I could see.

Kay - I believe the Club Level is well worth it. In my experience, the Crowne Plaza offers separate check-out and Concierge service and that can save you time. The continental breakfasts have been above average with lots of fresh fruit, cereals, muffins, cheeses, meats, and a perfect start to the vacation morning. Also a newspaper, bowls of fresh fruit out all day, a cash bar happy hour with a free snack spread before going out on the town.

We look at these extras as great time savers so we can enjoy more of the attractions in the city of choice... Have Fun!

By all means check with the individual hotel before spending the extra $$. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza (club level) in Elgin, Illinois two years ago and my kids are still talking about it. Sumptuous room and a 24 hour lounge that served a big breakfast, snacks throughout the day, free cocktails and meal-sized appetizers. It was worth the extra money. On the other end of the scale is the Crowne Plaza in Omaha, Nebraska. The entire hotel is a disappointment and club level rooms had no extra amenities that I could see.

There is indeed potential variation among Crowne Plaza properties, as many are operated by franchisees. That said, I have stayed at several and thought the Club Level was definitely worth it at all of them. If there are two of you, what you would pay for breakfast and eveing cocktails/ hors d'ouvres would probably amount o more than $30.
