Is this different to the one on Universal Boulevard? I suspect it may be seeing as you say it's on I-Drive, but the one on Universal Boulevard is only a hundred or so yards from I-Drive.
I stayed at the Universal Boulevard one in September so can help you out if it turns out to be the same one.

The Crowne Plaza Universal was one of seven hotels I visited while looking for a site to have a ship's reunion. It had everything we needed, and we were there this past September. If we were to have another reunion in Orlando I not hesitate to go there again. The location is good, the hotel is new, (June, 2002) and the employees went out of their way to help us. The bed was the most comfortable I've had in a hotel, and the wing chair in the room was very relaxing.

Oops. Yes, I meant the Crowne Plaza on Universal. The one that opened in 2002. We "girls" (over 40's) will be there in a few days. It sounds great. Is it far from City Walk. What are some fun night spots in the evening.
Thanks

I thought it was a great hotel. I picked up a good deal for it on Hotwire. It had decent sized and well-furnished rooms, the staff were good and it's in a great location.
Personally, I am glad not to have on site stayed at Universal (or Disney but that was never on the cards) but in September it was low season so we never had to queue for anything. It's only a few minutes walk to I-Drive from the hotel.
We got a taxi to and from Citywalk from the hotel which was only a few dollars and only about a five minute drive from memory. You wouldn't want to walk it.
The hotel has shuttles to and from the theme parks but we didn't use them as we had our own transport so I don't know anything much more about them.
