Thanks so much for the advice about the Metro farecards. I will purchase another one when I get to the Metro station.

gogbgo,
I went on the website for the Smithsonian Institute which is si.edu
and clicked on Air and Space Museum and also the Museum of Natural History and they list all the dates and times for the different shows as well as a description of the shows. I ended up calling the phone number listed to place my order because they discount the tickets slightly if you purchase a combo ticket, which is an IMAX theater show and a planetarium show. They do add a service fee of $2.00 for each ticket but I'd rather pay it and be assured that we have seats.

I also booked tickets to the Washington Monument - The website for that is reservations.nps.gov and am looking into getting tickets for the Holocaust Museum as well as the Spy Museum.

I ended up moving the monument night tour to Friday night, our last night. I think it will end the trip on a high note and it lightened up Thursday.

Many, many thanks to all of you. Your help is priceless!

Bardo, I am equipted with a list of restaurants you have suggested to me and other posters over time. You are a wealth of information!

I'll let you all know how it all turns out!

Timed tickets for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum can be obtained in advance at tickets.com.

I hope you are not discouraged by the remarks about the Spy Museum. I thought it was terrific, and my 14-yr-old grand daughter enjoyed it, too. Granted, it costs money and the Smithsonians are free, but it is a very different place, and combines fictional spies and reality in an interesting way.

DownSouth, thanks for the website. I was having a hard time locating it in my notes. I just got tickets for the Holocaust Museum for Thursday since it is close to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. I also got tickets for the Spy Museum. That museum seems to have mixed reviews but my 12 year old had the Spy Museum and Bureau of Engraving very high on her list. She read the comments here and can't understand why no one likes the places she does! Vera, I'll make sure she reads your post.

Thanks so much to you all. We're all so thrilled to be leaving in the morning for our trip! I'll post a trip report when we return.
