cottage/cabin rental

I am looking to rent a cottage/cabin for a weekend this summer for 10 adults. I am running into all kinds of problems because most places will only rent by the week. We are all from Michigan but now live in Chicago and would like to go somewhere no more than 3 hours away. I was thinking St.Joe, Southaven, Michigan City in IN, or even somewhere in Wisconsin.

We need a beach within a very short walk.

Hot tub, central ac, firepit and pets allowed would also be great but we are willing to part with these amenities.

I have tried vrbo, great rental, ect. I guess I am looking for some personal advice.

Any ideas of places?

That's hard. Did you try doing a local search for realtors around in those areas? Also, did you happen to just email some of the VRBO's to see if they will rent for a weekend? Beach type rentals are tough like that. Even here in Florida they only rent by the week.

I would try the local realtors (sp?) and see what they are renting out. Or do a random google search for the town and see what tourist site it pulls up. Then see if it has a tab for lodging/rentals.

Good luck!

Web search... try http://rentalo.com/112026/thebeachwood.html.
Me, I'd be creative. Try searching for a house boat, sail boat rental. State park group shelter etc.

You may need to look for a cottage/cabin through the Chamber of Commerce where you want to stay. Those properties tend to offer more flexibility and you may be able to book a weekend. You may need to rent two or three cottages or even look at an inn. Good luck.

My family has a house in Winneconnie, WI (about an 1 1/2 hours north of Milwaukee) and I know we rent it out every now and then. 2 stories, fire pit, right on the lake. Let me know if you are interested.
