The Seinfeld diner is on the corner of Broadway and 112th Street. The Cosby show was filmed in Brooklyn but the brownstone they supposedly lived in is at 10 Leroy Street in Greenwich Village. You may want to consider a movie location tour...one that has gotten good reviews is with NY Tours, it's 3 hours and you take a bus around to 50 or 60 different locations (Friends apartment, Soup Nazi, Spiderman, Serendipity, etc.).

The exterior of the Seinfeld dine(Monk's) was shot at Tom's restaurant at the corner of 112th street and Broadway. The interior is nothing like that on the show. The interior set was displayed at the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens a couple of years ago, but I don't know if its still there.
The Cosby show was set in Brooklyn Heights, but I thought I read recently that the actual exterior shot was a brownstone building in Greenwhich Village (in Manhattan)

The Cosby exterior is #10 St. Luke's Place (Leroy Street). It is in a row of beautiful houses, many dating back to the mid-1850's. #4 is where the movie Wait Until Dark was shot. Author Sherwood Anderson lived at #12. At #16, Theodore Dreisser began his work on "An American Tragedy."
You can take the #1 subway and get off at Houston Street. Walk about 2 blocks up Seventh Avenue north (uptown) and make a left at St. Lukes Place (Leroy Street).
From there it is only a short walk to the Friends exterior at Grove and Bedford Street. If you walk one more block up Seventh Avenue, you will make a left onto Bedford Street.
