Coronado/San Diego/Del Mar ?
We're staying in Newport Beach for a week, then followed by 2 nites in the San Diego area.
The question is....where? We are a couple, 33/43 and one of us is slightly disabled (no running!). As this will be the end of our trip, we'd like to relax, but would like to have shops and restaurants to stroll through.
So here's what I've narrowed it down to. Any comments would be appreciated.
Hotel del Coronado
Marriott's Coronado Island Beach Resort
L'Auberge del Mar
Hyatt Islandia
Thanks again for any feeback.

Depending on your financial situation, the historic hotel Del is your best bet.
Right on the beach-a great one at that, walk to shops, etc. I am also fond of the mariott on the other side of the island (peninsula really). More quiet, nicely appointed rooms, better value, etc. You can't go wrong with either hotel.

Skip the Islandia.
The Marriott Coronado is very nice but I think the Hotel Del and the L'Auberge del Mar are better choices. Both are within walking distance of their town villages with shops and restaurants. I would lean toward the Hotel Del as it is beachfront whereas the other is short walk to the beach. Also, the ferry runs from Coronado to downtown San Diego which provides you with more diversification of activities.

L'Auberge, L'Auberge, L'Auberge!! It's a great location. Fabulous restaurants and shops located literally across the street. A short stroll (downhill there, but uphill back) to a beautiful beach and beach park. You couldn't ask for a nicer location in my opinion. There is more to do here than in Coronado within walking distance. If you do go with the Del, make sure you get a room in the older section. They have lots of character, but the new section is kind of run-of-the-mill. Have a great time!
