Considering Moab area Itinerary changes
Actually, not really considering changes. Just trying to get myself to think a bit.
I've been considering a 5 day trip to the Moab area.
About 2 1/2 days in Arches, 1 day for dead Horse Point & Canyonlands Island in the Sky, and Rafting 1/2 day,
Route 279 and Corona Arch hike 1/2 day and finally Route 128 and Fisher Tower hike 1/2 day.
Now I'm thinking (a bad thing).
What if I were to remove 1 day from the Moab area and add a day to the trip.
Any suggestions as to what I should drop and what I should add.
I don't want to drive more than 4 hours (app.) from Moab. I have to remain in range of Salt Lake City as that's where I'll be returning home from.

I wouldn't remove a day. My daughter and I spent 3 days there and it was just great. We hiked just about everything there was in Arches. Deadhorse Point is worth the drive out. If your into adventure try www.deserthighlights.com for canyoneering. The rappelling in Arches NP was awesome. It was highlight of our trip. Delicate Arch, Landscape Arch, Double Arch, and Balanced Rock are the must sees in my opinion.

Your plan sounds so great as it is, I don't think I'd change it. You might consider adding that day to Moab and make a day trip down to Canyonlands, Needle District.
IF you do decide to change it and add a day, then consider Capitol Reef National Park and spend the extra two nights in Torrey, Utah.

i'd go to the needles district for the day. its about an hour down the road from moab. one of my favorite trails is the confluence trail. it is 10 miles round trip but a lot is flat. there are some ladders on this trail. but some of the vistas are just breathtaking.

Sounds great! First thing after you get to Moab, stop into Arches Visitor Center and get tickets for the Fiery Furnace Ranger-Guided Hike. They are often sold out for a day or so and you may have to adjust your schedule around availability.
Take loads of film/memory cards.

Dayle,
If you notice at the start of my post, I'm just trying to see if tinkering may be worth the effort.
At this time the itinerary looks pretty good to me.
I'm just thinking with probably too much lead time on my hands.
Thanks to all. Nothing written has tempted me to change anything.

Yes, trust Dayle...you're spending
little enough time in the area as it
is...a month would be good but if all
you have is 5 days, take it. It is easy to try and see too much and end
up seeing too little.
Besides, you're a photographer...everything takes longer for a photographer...
