CONNECTICUT BEACH RESORT
Hi everyone
I will be travelling from the Berkshires, Massacheusetts, in April next year to the Connecticut coast. Please can anyone recommend a beach resort to stay in for 2 nights where I can visit local attractions and maybe other points of interest close by. I would prefer a B&B on the coast. Thanks.

The Connecticut shore is pretty in places, but not a dramatic sea coast. In April it's still cool, so I don't expect you'll be lounging on the sand. I think your best bet would be the area around Mystic -- in particular The Inn at Stonington in Stonington Borough http://www.innatstonington.com/. The borough is beautiful with well preserved 17th and 18th century buildings. Nearby is Mystic, a small village featuring Mystic Seaport, http://www.mysticseaport.org/ which has ships and a recreated 19th century village. Good of its type and not-to-miss if you love traditional boats and sailing ships. There is also an aquarium by the highway. Not great but worth a few hours.
Newport Rhode Island is about an hour away. It has its famous mansions, a scenic beach, a good walk and good restaurants. You might consider using it as your base instead. If not, you'd probably enjoy it as a day trip.
