Condo rentals on Maui?

Can anyone recommend a good condo rental on Maui, preferably in Kaanapali and possibly a newer property? Thanks.

Maria,
You don't mention price range, size of unit, desired facilities etc.
We've stayed twice at Noelani in Kahana, most recently this May. It's not new but was fully refurbished a few years ago, and we would gladly go again. If you're going in whale-watching season it would be near perfect as it's so close to the sea.
Happy Planning !

I'm flexible on price. I'm just looking for something cheaper than staying in one of those luxury hotels that charge over $300/night. I just need something small and simple, 1 bedroom, nearby restaurants, and a clean place. If not new, a refurbished property would be ok, too.

Thanks for your input. I'll check out Noelani.

I love the Maui Kai. It is a good price, all ocean front and all privatly owned condos so each unit is different. I have been staying in unit 402 for the past several years and love it. Full kitchen, total privacy and feels like home.

Spurlge and stay at a fun hotel even if you cut the trip a little shorter. It is so much nicer to have a great pool next to the beach, cool drinks, and a party atmosphere.

Have you checked out ebay.com? This is where we've rented our condos in years past.

We are staying in a cottage over Christmas that you might be interested in. It sleeps 6, is $140. per night including taxes, and is very near Kaanapali. It is situated in a golf course. The link for this particular cottage is http://www.idealvacationrentals.com/...oks/brooks.htm. However, there are other cottages there as well. You also might try vrbo.com. It has tons of places listed. We have done private rentals twice before in Hawaii and had no propblems at all. They were as described. Hope this helps.

Check out www.vrbo.com, which is Vacation Rentals By Owner. I've rented condos in Maui twice through them and were pleased both times.

We love Grand Champions Villas in Wailea...both Grand Champions and Wailea can't be beat as far as we're concerned. Check out www.ownerdirect.com

Polo Beach club in Wailea (next door to the Kea Lani) is nice...insist on a recently redecorated unit...the last time I stayed I had amazing views, but 1970's decor!

It should be mentioned that Grand Champions is not near the ocean. It is on a golf course, if you want that, that's fine. Most people want to be on the beach - ocean-side or ocean-view. Hawaii is the ocean.

Grand Champions may not be on the ocean but golf course units do have ocean views. We also always stay at Grand Champions and although we've stayed at the Outrigger and the Renaissance, Grand Champions is our favorite.

Unless you play golf why stay on a golf course. Personaly I want to be on beach - not just having an oceanview. What's good about just looking at the ocean beach but has to drive to get in it??? Not for me.

By the way, the streets and parking at Grand Champions are pretty crowded.

Can anyone recommend a good web site for a studio, preferably oceanfront and nothing below Kaanapali? I travel alone and appreciate budget prices. Thanks. Terri

XXX, F.Y.I.
NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO PAY FOR AN OCEANFRONT ROOM WHEN THEY CAN USE THE EXTRA DOLLARS SAVED ELSEWHERE FOR OTHER MORE TANGIBLE THINGS...TRIPS, MEALS ETC.

ALSO, I SERIOUSLY DOUBT THAT XXX HAS STAYED AT GRAND CHAMPIONS SINCE HE MENTIONS CROWDED PARKING AND STREETS AT GRAND CHAMPIONS...EACH UNIT HAS ITS OWN RESERVED PARKING SPOT... I DON'T KNOW WHATELSE XXX WANTS...BUT THAT'S MORE THAN ADEQUATE FOR ME AND I TOO LOVE THE GRAND CHAMPIONS. I AM NOT A GOLFER BUT LOVE SITTING ON THE LANAI AND ENJOYING MY BREAKFAST WHILE WATCHING THE GOLFERS.

Terri, as was suggested earlier in this post, I recommend checking www.vrbo.com. Last year I got an extremely nice studio condo at Maui Eldorado Resort for $100/nt which I booked directly through the condo owner. It would have cost me more than double that if I'd booked through Outrigger which runs the property. If you check www.vrbo.com, be sure to look at postings with pictures and compare. Some that I looked at looked rather old and shabby, however, the one I chose had been recently renovated and upgraded and the pictures were very impressive. HTH

We've stayed twice in the Kahana area, just south of Napili ("above" Kaanapali <g>), both times at Noelani, this May we were in a unit owned by: http://www.hawaiianpurl.com/

Do a google for Noelani's site. It's not on a beach but is very close to the water, small place too which is nice.
