Commute from New Hope to Independence Square & Mann Center
Hi,
I have received many helpful hints for my trip so far, so I thought maybe someone can help me with some logistics.
We will be staying in New Hope but attending a concert at the Mann (on a Sunday). I thought that we would go into Philly a little early to see the historical sites & then head to the Mann for the concert.
Keeping in mind that the concert is at 7:30 pm, what is the best mode of transportation for this day visit? What about time (what time to leave and/or how long to expect it to take).
We will have a car, but many postings have set a bell off in my head that it may not be ideal.
Also, anyone ever eaten dinner at the Mann? And does anyone know about what time their concerts usually let out?
Thanks!!

I think you're going to be OK driving a car in, especially since it's a Sunday and the Mann has ample parking.
The timing factor is a little complicated, since you don't give a timeframe, except that the show starts at 7:30. My guess is, on a Sunday, it'll take you about 90 minutes to get from NH to Independence Mall. From Independence Mall to the Mann: about 20 minutes.
So, how early do you want to get into town and to the Mann? I dunno.
As far as parking in the historiic district, I've often found on-street parking on Sunday mornings, or at least lots that offer discounts at that time of day and week.
Dinner at the Mann? Didn't know you could. All I've ever seen there is a snack that offers the usual -- hotdogs, etc. You might consider packing a cooler in your car, getting to the Mann early, and picnicking there (if the weather's nice).

Driving is really the only way to get to the Mann. The Center is located in the middle of Fairmount Park and there's no reliable public transportation to speak of.
Food services at the Mann are provided by Steve Poses, formerly of the Commissary, and I've heard good reviews. I believe there is an upscale food court with a range of ethnic options, as well as a sit down restaurant.
Depending on your stamina level, I'd head into town around 1 or 2 p.m. There's a lot to see and do. I'd allow for an hour and 15 minutes from New Hope to Philadelphia (there's a lot of construction on I-95 right now), and half an hour to get from downtown to the Mann.

I'm so glad that people took the time & interest to reply to me...thanks to your responses, I have rearranged things for a logistically better trip. Now, we will be driving in from Baltimore & staying the night in Philly. We are going to save New Hope for the next couple of nights.
The menu(s) at the Mann sound promising, but if we were to pick up a picnic dinner, any ideas of a store near the Warwick that would be open on Sunday?
Thanks again!
