Comdex & Las Vegas
I'm trying to plan my trip round California and keep hearing about something called Comdex which is taking place in Las Vegas. What is this ? and should I be avoiding Las Vegas when it's happening ?

COMDEX is the granddaddy of all computer conferences, evidently one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, of all trade shows in the world. It is in LV next week, and if that coincides with your plans, either (a) you have a hotel booked, which is good, or (b) you won't be able to get one, so there's no issue about conflict. The city is packed out, there's a wait for everything, it's quite an experience. Heaven if you're a tech junkie, otherwise...

In addition to the above post, hotel rates are at there highest;but if your plans are NOT flexible, try the website
www.lvrs.com . This site has the lowest rates you can get on LV hotels.
If you must go, try to plan your stay towards the end of the week of 11/15, the rates get cheaper and availability is better. The weekend before, fron 11/13 thru 11/18 are the most expensive.

There is one word for Vegas during Comdex, and it is ZOO... As mentioned before, room rates are extremely high, and you will have a hard time seeing any shows, not waiting in huge lines for buffets, or pretty much be able to walk without bumping into tons of conventioneers. Were there a couple years ago during the week before, and it was already getting riduculously packed. Avoid Vegas at all costs during this time if you can possibly help it!
