Coldest place you've ever been to?

I cross country skiied(sp?) in -25 degrees F in Northern Minnesota one Christmas vacation. But being in the woods helped (protected from wind), and layering clothes, with no skin exposed (face mask on), makes it actually enjoyable. You create body heat working so hard. Just don't stop skiing, or you will feel cold after a few minutes.

Another vote for NE Minnesota. I was there one Christmas, the Fargo news showed people tossing up cups of water. The water froze in the air and came down as ice. We rarely left the hose the whole week. Another time I was there for 4th of July. I seem to recall it was 28 degrees (someone here may prove me wrong) Anyway we were watching the fireworks and we were freezing.

The coldest place I've ever been to is right here in Buffalo for the past 44 winters. Right now it is 12 degrees. If I were going out somewhere (in my car - not out walking) I'd probably put gloves on!

BuffaloGirl, I relate to everything you say. My SIL lives in Buffalo, and we always play the "it is so cold here" game. She usually wins. But she also told me, and I have not bothered to confirm this--that WI and Buffalo share the same latitude? Who knows. What I do know is yesterday, as I ran some errands when it was -2 (not wind chill mind you) I poured our my semi warm coffee on the driveway and it froze immediately.

StephCar: I just did a quick google search of latitude for Buffalo and Milwaukee. They're close...very close!

2)Standing in Red Square in Moscow at the end of Nov. with the cold air coming off the river running up through Red Square.
1)Standing on the tarmac at Warsaw Airport waiting to get on a LOT prop plane to Berlin. It was so cold, I was near blue. Then a prop plane up the tarmac started its engine blowing cold air our way. I was last in line and I was blue when I got to my seat. I shook fevorously for the first 10 minutes in the plane.
That is the coldest I have ever seen it.

We moved from Texas to Pennsylvania in the fall of that year and my poor mother hadn't a clue what to do being trapped alone in a blizzard with two small children. Needless to say, we were back in Texas before the first day of spring.
Is that still the worst blizzard on record for that area? I know it was at that time.
