Clothes shopping in DC

I'll be in DC for two meetings, but have the weekend free. I want to shop for business clothes and hope you'll have some suggestions about best places to go.

Staying near Dupont Circle, no car, only Metro or taxi if needed.

Looking for stylish but relatively conservative suits, $200 - $400 price range.

Your suggestions about where to shop would be greatly appreciated.

I shopped in Georgetown when I was in DC last month.

Since you'll be in Dupont Circle anyway, check out Filene's Basement--it's like a TJ Maxx but nicer. It's on Connecticut Ave.

Otherwise, the Fashion Centre mall at Pentagon City may be a good idea. (It's in Arlington VA but is on the Metro.) There's a Nordstrom there.

re. Filene's Basement: It's a LOT, LOT nicer than TJ Maxx.

Filene's will be a good selection of conservative suits in the $200-$400 range (marked down from $400-$800 M.S.R.P.). It's at the corner of Connecticut Ave.and DeSales St. NW. An apropriate address as that's where De' Sales are!

Filenes Basement is near both the Farragut North Metro Station and there is also one near Metro Center and at Friendship Heights.

Thanks for these suggestions. I've shopped at Filene's in Boston - didn't know they were in DC as well.

There's a boutique just south of Dupont Circle on Connecticut Ave. called Betsy Fisher. It might be above the price range you're looking for, but might be worth a look for something different.
