circuscircus-manor vs. skyrise tower

Have reservations to take the family to circuscircus in Vegas in April at a good price. The reservations clerk says the rooms are in the Manor section. I have read some pretty bad reviews of those rooms on another forum but the lady says they just completed a remodel of them a couple weeks ago. Has anybody been there in the last couple weeks? How does the remodel look? She says she could give us the same rate in the skyrise tower. How are those rooms?

I don't know what your rate for the manor is but for 39.00 a night we opted to stay in the West Tower which was built in 96. The manor is a complete DUMP! The best remodel for that would be to tear it down. CC isn't the safest place in town there were armed guards at every door when my family and I stayed there in June 99. The hotel itself is ok and a bargain but, there are alot of unsavory characters loitering around, we saw bums, drug dealers, and prostiitutes. This is what will prevent us from staying there in the future.

Sorry Anna, but I've got to strongly agree with Ann. I've been to Vegas dozens of times, 3 times in the past year, and I would not take young kids to Circus Circus these days. As recently as 5-6 years ago the area around CC was much better but as the south end of the strip has grown rapidly the past 5 years, the north end around CC is taking on an urban blight feel. I've been in CC after 10 PM on occasion in the past couple years and it gets a little creepy feeling sometimes compared to the clean/busy/well lit/well kept newer properties farther south. There can't be a cheap enough rate that would make me stay there over a reasonably priced room at, say, Luxor or even Excalibur. Rates in Vegas vary tremendously and packages are everywhere. If it's not a sold out convention week, you should be able to get something reasonable farther south. I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm, but I'm positive you'll enjoy your trip much more if you stay someplace more dependable....

I "third" the reply. . .Stay away from circus circus at any cost! We stayed there two years ago, it was the worst experience of my life! I had never been to Vegas with my kids and someone who had been there 10 years prior had reconmmended it. Alot can change (For the worse) in ten years! It was a magnet for unsavory people. I would have prefered to sleep in my car! The Luxor or Excalibur would be much better choices.
Good luck

I'm not sure it is necessary to "fourth" this, but I wouldn't use a free night at Circus Circus. I stayed there during a convention in 1999 because it was the only room to be found (this says something, methinks!) and checked out the next day. I went over to the Alexis Park Resort, a non-gaming hotel that is quiet and wonderful. At Circus Circus, a "professional woman" knocked on my door asking if I needed company AND someone offered drugs...all within 30 minutes.
