Christmas in NY-Need the NYC Experts
Hi All,
I am from New Jersey and go into the city all the time. I would like to know from you experts, is there somewhere to go that is "Christmassy" besides the overcrowed areas of the "Tree", Times Square, store windows, etc. Is there any other place you go can go to to walk around that is nicely decorated?? Anything near Central Park, downtown, etc.
thanks for any suggestions

Rolf's German Restaurant -- 22nd and 3rd Avenue. Christmas decor is way over the top. I make it a point to grab dinner here every year around this time. The heavy German fare is nothing to recommend. But the atmosphere is what make's it. Call for a reservation. They book up.

I skip Rock Center and my husband meets me downtown now. I like to walk past the exchange - they have a fantastic tree and half the building is covered in lights that form a huge American Flag. We go by the Seaport and see that tree - I think there's a schedule and there are choirs and carolers there at different times. There's a lot of office parties this time of year and the streets are crowded a little later than usual. We either get a drink someplace or eat at The Full Shilling. This is on a weeknight, though. It's probably too dead on a weekend down here.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art features a beautiful Christmas tree & accompanying display.
The Union Square Christmas market is not so crowded on weekdays.
A stroll up Madison Avenue from 60th Street is also nice.
