Christmas Decorations in New Orleans

We will be traveling to New Orleans this weekend for a short stay. Have got most of our itinerary down including New Year's Eve plans, but would like to know if the Christmas decorations will stil be up, I am assuming they will be. More specifically are there any particular homes in the Garden District or one of the the plantations that you can tour which have "over the top, wouldn't want to miss" gorgeous decorations?

I know that Nottaway Plantation is famous for their Christmas decorations and they were included in the Tours by Isabelle full day plantation tour we took. Can't say for sure if they are up until New Year's though, you might call and ask.

Try the "Celebration in the Oaks" at City Park. The gorgeous old oak trees are decorated with literally millions of lights. It's quite beautiful.

(I haven't seen as many Christmas decorations on homes this year. Not sure if it's an economic thing, reaction to September 11 or just a sign of the times.)
