Savanah restaurant recommendations

My wife and I are planning a trip to Savanah in February and would like restaurant recommendations. We like all kinds of food..would like non-tourist restaurants.

There really isn't any such thing as a non-touristy restaurant in Savannah (at least in the Historical district which I assume you are planning to visit).
There are many good restaurants there and any hotel or inn will be glad to provide recommendations, sample menus, etc. If you want to try a very touristy, but economical and good county food, try Mrs. Wilkes..anyone can provide directions. Family style food, etc. If you want excellent normal fare try the Old Pink House or
Elizabeth's on 37th St.-both pricey but worth it.

Elizabeth's on 37th is a very fine restaurant-certainly not cheap but a very quality place.

My suggestion would be The Old Pink House. The duck was delicious there and the atmosphere was lovely. I have heard many wonderful things about Elizabeth on 37th. Those are my two suggestions.

Elizabeth's is nice but expensive, as is the Pink House. Suggest you also consider Sapphire Grill on Congress Street. In December, the Time On Bay was good, but may be closing. Try any number of places on Congress Street. There really are no great restaurants in Savannah, just nice ones. Thus, go for the places that make sense price-wise. But avoid places along the river or recommended by Clint Eastwood's crew. There are few if any great bar-b-que places down there, too. And accpet no Brunswick Stew that is beef-based.

I highly recommend The Chart House on Bay St., along the Riverfront. Their Caesar salad is so...wonderful! It is a meal in itself. Great atmosphere and good food.

Check out the Bistro Savannah on Congress St. Pleasant atmosphere, good service, and (most important) good food.

For a great meal in a non touristy atmosphere, the place is Mrs. Wilkes' Boarding House. Not dinner, but the lunch boarding house style meal IS Savannah's greatest treasure.
