children clothing in LA

Hi,
I'm an oversea visitor to LA, and need to find clothings and hats for my darling 16 months old
grand-daughter. Don't want to shop on-line.
Thank you for all recommendations.

I can't help with specific stores BUT

LA is a BIG place -- where are you located; do you have a car or will you need to get from where you are to shops via public transportation; are you looking for high end [expensive]merchandise?

If you answer these questions, you should get some more specific suggestions.

Thank you DebitNM.
It's now past 2:00 am my time, and I'll be taking a 16hrs flight to LA this afternoon. So I need to get some sleep now, and will log in before or after I arrive in LA.
Thanks again!!

Flika on Larchmont is a great store that I have enjoyed shopping at. Santa Monica also has some great places, I just can't think of their names right now.

Don't know where the stores in Beverly Hill are located, but I shop for my grandchild at the Manhattan Village Mall, 3 miles south of LAX on Sepulveda Blvd. where all these are together.

Cute and unusual things are at Baby Style, Baby Gap and Gymboree.

I love Naartjie for girls' clothes. Here is a list of their California locations. http://www.naartjie.homestead.com/usstores.html

Gymboree is a popular place for kids clothing. You can find shops around Beverly Hills as well as in malls and there are a ton of them in LA. There are also your usual Baby Gap, Old Navy etc chain stores, which are usually located at the malls. Nordstrom is a high end department store located at the Grove where you will probably go anyway to see the Grove and Farmer's Market there. The super high end shops like Kitson are in West Hollywood.

I'm looking in my "City Baby L.A." book for ideas for you.

In Beverly Hills you can check out Bonpoint and Oilily (on Brighton Way). There's of course also Barneys NY and Saks right there. They probably have some kids' stuff.

At the shopping center The Grove, not far from BH, Janie & Jack has really cute kids' clothing. If you want designer stuff, Fred Segal on Melrose has a children's department.

Head over to Santa Monica. Along Montana Ave. you can go to Babystyle and The Pump Station. There are also a number of cute boutiques selling baby clothing in the area.
