Childhood Neighborhood

i grew up in Andover, Mass, moved when I was about 5, that was in 1969. And we lived on River Road. I remember that down the road, we drove and there was this swampy area, with lots of turtles trying to cross the road.

does anyone recognize where I'm describing?

Sorry for the vague information, but that is all that I have in my memory.

I will visiting that area next summer with my family, since I left in 1969.

does this swampy area still exist and where did the road lead to?

thanks in advance.

My aunt, uncles, and cousins have lived in Andover for years and we've visited them countless times. I don't recall any swampy areas w/turtles. That doesn't mean it doesn't still exist, but if it does, I haven't come across it in my many visits. Sorry. It's a lovely community (my aunt owns the chocolate store downtown which I highly recommend!).

You could be talking about a number of places on River Road. Perhaps around the resevoir and Barron's store? The road that crosses River Rd. there leads up to St. Robert's Church. It is pretty swampy lots of places in that area. Deer Jump reservation? There is a Hotel and Golf Course across from the IRS building and I know from personal experience that the golf course is extremely swampy. Take a drive and I'm sure that something will jog your memory.
