Chicago's Days Inn-Lake Shore Drive
I have a reservation for Day's Inn Lake Shore Drive at $99 a night in early August. I know the area is nice and close to everything. I'm wondering if anybody stayed at the hotel and knows if this is a true bargain or a hotel I'd want to stay away from .

Hi
I live near Chicago and have driven past this hotel many times. As you said, the area is nice.
Have never stayed there but friends of mine stayed there and said it was fine.
It is nothing fancy but fits the bill if you are just looking for a reasonable place to stay in Chicago.
Hope this helps you.

I remember reading a posting by someone who had snagged a room on Priceline.com at the Chicago Westin North River for $98. Put Chicago in the "search" box on this forum and it'll pull up the message . . . Maybe you can ask how he got such a great deal and if he's stayed there yet. Also, keep trying some "big name" hotels on-line and by calling -- sometimes they have some great "last minute rates".

Just stayed there last week. It's fine. Nothing fancy.. Very busy -- a friend who was staying on another floor complained about noise in the halls, etc. The elevators, though -- fergiddaboutit! After waiting almost 20 minutes one morning, we just gave up and walked DOWN 22 flights. But if you have a Lake Shore Drive side room, the view cannot be beat! Nor can the location.

Hi Mike,
I stayed there quite often a few years ago when I was visiting a friend in Chicago. It's fine, nothing too fancy, but quite comfortable. Funny the other reply mentions the elevators--I remember those delays! As I recall, I used to take the stairs too.
Enjoy your time in Chicago.

I have stayed at the Days Inn about a dozen or more times. Every time I go back to Chicago I say "I will find a classier more upscale hotel" I always end up at the Days Inn. It is really as good as most hotels in Chicago. Just because it says Days Inn you should not be stigmitized by it. If the Sheraton bought the property it would be twice the money and none better. It is right across the street from Navy Pier, it is in the heart of the restaurant disrtict and within walking distance of all the downtown places you will want to be in your free time. For them money it is first class. You can spend more and maybe get more - but for the money you get atleast 50% more than they charge.
