Chicago Transportation
What are the choices of transportation from O'Hare airport to downtown Chicago(Ohio & LaSalle).
I'm only spending one night and I'll have just an overnight bag(no luggage to drag with me)
Any suggestions on things to do is welcome.
Thanks J.B. Blackwood

To get downtown you basically have two choices. Taxi Cab ride will be approximately $30-40 depending on traffic. Also you can take the "Blue Line" train which is attached to O'Hare. There are signs posted throughout airport just look for them which will say Rapid Transit. The train will take you downtown but not exactly to where you are staying, in fact you may need to backtrack somewhat. It is relatively easy and I would suggest you ask the train personnel at the O'Hare station, pretty helpful. Looking for things to do, You are in a pretty cool area but things happen near Rush and Division, good nightlife area, you can take a long walk through good neighborhoods or a short cab ride.

With just an overnight bag, the "el" is the way to go. Go to www.yourcta.com for more info, it looks like you can take the blue line from O'Hare and then transfer to the purple line to be closer to your hotel.
There are several good restaurants near where you are staying, Cafe Iberico for Spanish tapas at 739 N. LaSalle, Carson's Ribs at 612 N. Wells, Wildfire at 159 W. Erie, Scoozi at 410 W. Huron, Frontera Grill at 445 N. Clark.
Are you looking for daytime activities or nighttime activities? Are you coming soon?

Take the Blue Line (the only one that goes to O'Hare) to Lake Street. It is clearly posted on all maps, and the stops are usually announced. Get off and walk upstairs - you will be about 5 blocks south and 1 block east of your hotel. Learn the Chicago numbering system and you'll be fine.

JB- I'll back up the others- take the blue line train downtown. The ride will take about 30-40 minutes. There are very good maps on yourcta.com, the el is very easy to use- I'm not sure why Coco thinks it's so confusing...
If you are coming in during rush hour, DO NOT take a cab--- you will be paying top dollar to sit in traffic-- and you will have the pleasure of watching the blue line trains whiz by you (it runs along the expressway for a while)!
Either way, enjoy Chicago!!
