Chicago to Asheville stops

We're thinking of driving, instead of flying, to visit the parents/in-laws in Asheville. Would appreciate suggestions of good places to stay/eat on the way.

Hi Marija,

Just south of Lexington, KY is Berea, home of Berea Colleage and the Kentucky Artisan Center. Known for it's folk art and fine crafts.

It would cause you to have to take a longer route but you could visit Mammoth Caves National Park in Kentucky. It is just off I65 about 1.5 hours south of Louisville.

If you want to shop, go to the outlets at Pigeon Forge, just past Knoxville.
