Chicago Suburbs Hotels

Anyone know of a good hotel bargain in a Chicago suburb? I'll have a car and if I can cut the hotel bill in half (comprared to downdown) I'll do it. I've stayed in Addison, Il. before, but would like something even closer.
Thanks, Greg

I don't know if you'll be able to cut your bill in half by staying in the suburbs, but check hotrooms.com for deals in Chicago and suburbs. Looks like you can get rooms in the $75-100 a night range by looking in the 'burbs. The Skokie area would be fairly convenient about an hour at rush hour, half that when the expressway is clear.

Hi Greg,

We just got back from Chicago and we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express out by Midway Airport. There were five or six different hotels located in the Midway Hotel Complex--Hampton Inn, Courtyard, Sleep Inn, Fairfield, etc. It was very convenient to take the hotel shuttle van to the train station and then take the "el" into Chicago. It took about half an hour. We really enjoyed our stay. Hope you will too.

One of the more touristy suburbs is Schaumburg. There are many hotels, a large mall, and many restraunts in the area. It is just a short drive to Cumberland where you can park your car and take the blue line downtown.

It's only a short drive from Schaumburg to Cumberland if there is no traffic. On a weekday morning or evening that trip can take forever. There are lots of hotels closer to O'Hare in the Rosemont area. You can park your car at the River Road station on the Blue line for $1.50 a day but on a weekday you better get it into the lot by 7 AM if you want to park there.
