Chicago Restaurant with Great Christmas Decor?

We'll be in Chicago the weekend before Christmas and would like recommendations on a good restaurant for a family with great Christmas decor - festive, fun. Would like to spend around $200 for four with maybe one bottle of wine included; french, traditional or regional cuisine, seafood is preferred. Will be in the Western Suburbs most of the time. Nothing too stuffy please!

I can't recommend a restaurant, but if you are in the city,go to Butch McGuires on Division St. They always have great christmas decorations and it is a fun Pub.

Forgot to mention that this is an anniversary - spent time at Butch's in my youth - not exactly the place for kids.

Although I think it would be significantly less expensive than you indicated, and therefore perhaps not as "fine cuisine" as you'd like for an anniversary dinner, the Walnut Room at Marshall Field's on State has a HUGE Christmas tree and is decorated quite nicely for Christmas. I'm not sure I'd call it festive, but it is beautiful. I was there for breakfast on a Sunday and pretty much every table there had young children at it. I've eaten both lunch and breakfast there and had very tasty food, mostly traditional American.

It's in the southwestern burbs--never eaten there but it is supposed to be great. Might be in Willow SPrings or Western Springs?

cmeyer: Courtwrights is in Willow Springs and will be decorated beautifully for Christmas - the restaurant was built so that the entire back wall is windowed & overlooks a forest preserve. (If it has snowed, the views are even better.) You will spend more than $200.00 for 4 people and while the food IS good, I didn't find it exceptional. (They have an extensive wine list, also.) It may also be on the stuffy side for you, too.
I second the nomination for the Walnut Room in Marshall Fields - this is a Chicago landmark & will get you out of the suburbs and downtown, where you can check out all the decorations on State Street - then amble over to Michigan Avenue. The Walnut Room is open from 8:00 AM till store closing at 9:00 PM. No reservations are accepted - if you DO go, time it for an "off" hour.

I vote for Marshall Field's. We were there the day after Thanksgiving along with everybody else in Chicago. Jenifer is right. The entire store is beautifully decorated. The food is good too.

Courwrights is excellent. It is in the town of Willow Springs, right on Archer Avenue just west of the intersection of Archer and Willow Springs Road. There is also a great little Italian place across the street from it. Beautiful area with trees and some of the only hills in the Chicago area.

Joe's Stone Crab (not Joe's Crab Shack) has good seafood, their crabcakes are excellent. Part of the name is prime steak so they have more than just seafood. It's a Lettuce Entertain you restaurant, not stuffy and you could probably get out of there for under $50 per head. It's at 60 E. Grand, not too far off of Michigan Avenue. Make reservations, it is popular.

Another idea might be to check out some of the hotel restaurants. The one at the Drake has a Charles Dickens buffet for $39.50 per person and I imagine some of the others are well decorated for the travelers. I've heard Caliterra in the Wyndham is good, Seasons at the Four Seasons is supposed to be good but they might be a little higher end than you are looking for.
