Chicago parking

I'm taking my family to downtown Chicago this weekend (I know it's the marathon, but oh well) ... I'm staying at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Tower ... what are the cheapest parking options? Those giant garages on the lake? And hidden gems I should know about?

THanks

The best price for garage parking in in Millenium Park, a short distance south of the Sheraton and the river. It was under $25. for 24 hours. Most of the hotles scharge around $50.

Yes. The hidden gem is called "public transportation".

We keep recommending that visitors do not drive into the city, even when there aren't huge events happening - but they do not heed this advice.

You need to be aware that there will probably be special event rates at Millennium Garage and others. Check their websites. That doesn't mean it will be cheaper, BTW.

In addition, you need to be aware that a great many streets will be closed for the Chicago Marathon - for many hours. The Chicago Marathon website will give information as respects the marathon route and you can go from there.

The CTA's website will advise of the re-routes of the many routes affected by the Marathon, as well.

I like public transportation, too ... but I'm driving in from Cincinnati. It's cheaper than taking the Megabus because we have 4 people.

I was just wondering if anyone recommends something like, say, Midway long-term parking then taking the train into downtown ...
