Chicago Food Festival...best time?

We want to return to this event. When is the best day and best time to avoid the huge crowds? I don't care if it's day or night, just looking for expert opinion here. Thanks you.

Not clear on what you mean - is it Taste of Chicago you're asking about? If so, the dates are 6/27-7/6. We have had good luck going in late afternoon on a weeknight.

Yes Pat...the Taste of Chicago, sorry. We do so many of these events it gets confusing! The last time we were there was 2 years ago at noon. It was great, but very hot and very crowded. Do the booths stay open throughout the day and night?

The vendors are open until probably 9pm or 10pm daily.

If you go right at 11:00, it isn't too crowded. Then it will get crowded around noon because people will going during there lunch while working. It slows down a little in the afternoon again. Evenings and weekends are usually pretty crowded. July 3 is the most crowded day of the event because that is the night of the fireworks display. Have fun!

Hubby and I always found that late afternoon worked best, even if we had to deal with the heat - workers downtown were done with their lunch breaks and the people coming in from the suburbs hadn't arrived yet in the evening. Enjoy!

Ooooops, forgot one more thing - try to avoid the weekends AND July 3rd and 4th - we did that a few times and it was much more crowded.
