The zoo is a good distance away from the fire zone. It is open and operating as of today.

Finally, some good news tekwriter. I've been watching my hometown burn from halfway across the world.

Although a mountainside subdivision was virtually leveled after the winds took the fire to the east, the city of Colorado Springs proper is fire-free, and handling the crisis pretty darn well. Let's hope that the weather cooperates now, and the firefighters can establish a firm perimeter of containment.
