cheap motels in boston or plymouth, Mass

Can anyone recommend some safe, inexpensive motels in or around Boston and Plymouth, Mass? My hubby and I are making a quick trip to the area to see all we can, so we don't need many amenities in our hotel. But we would like someplace safe and convenient. If anyone could help, I'd be grateful. Thank you.

Sandra - Salem and Peabody are no where near Plymouth. Plymouth is south of Boston and those towns are north and its not a pleasant ride in between.

For a no frills motel - there are a few chain hotels in Braintree. Braintree is close to Boston and has a T stop on the Red line that will take you into Downtown Crossing and all the way to Havard Sq if you want. Braintree is also on Rt 3 which is the highway that takes you to Plymouth. There is a Days Inn in Braintree - should be fairly inexpensive. Or try the Courtyard by Marriott in Stoughton (less convenient.

The towns you want to try are Braintree, Quincy, Weymouth or even Randolph.

Sandra,
At the Rt. 228 exit off of Route 3 (Hingham, Rockland) there are three hotels -- Holiday Inn (may be an Express), Ramada and Comfort Inn. The hotels are actually located in Rockland. Ask if any have specials. You will be approximately halfway between Boston and Plymouth. They are right off the highway and you can easily go south to Plymouth or north into Boston. You are also only 2 exits south of the Braintree T stop and 3 exits south of the Quincy T stop. Hingham is a lovely town with several good restaurants. Have a good time!
