cheap eats cambria

Any recommendations for restaurants in Cambria - (not fish) and a bit cheaper than Sows Ear, Robins and Chenoa all of which I have found recommended on this board? We have a three week driving holiday and are not looking to spend too much every night...thanks, Hilary

I agree. When traveling, we don't want to spend every night eating at places more appropriate for celebrating birthdays and anniversaries that for a simple evening meal.

Check out the restaurant at the Best Western in San Simeon. I remember having a good, reasonably priced meal there.

Also, in downtown Cambria there is a bakery/restaurant across the street from the Sow's Ear and a few doors down.

Linn's is the Bakery in Cambria that everyone recommends. Although I am not a fan of coffee shop type food, they are famous for their pies.

There are a couple pizza places on Main Street.

Moonstone Beach Bar and Grill has a great view and is moderate at lunch, but about the same as Sow's Ear at dinner, which constrains me to say that The Sow's Ear is worth the price. The food is very good and the atmosphere is intimate. MAKE RESERVATIONS WELL IN ADVANCE; the host doesn't like day-of-meal reservations.

Sow's Ear does an early bird dinner that is great. It starts at 5:00. You may also want to consider the Sea Chest on Moonstone Drive. They do not take credit cards or reservatoins, tho. Great seafood here.

The Black Cat is very nice, even if you just do an appetizer or a salad here. Desserts are also very good. ***kim***

West End Bar & Grill, 774 Main Street, Cambria. Good burgers and good fish and chips.

Lombardi's is a very reasonably priced little neighborhood Italian restaurant. It's located on a side street right across from the post office.

Main Street Grill is very casual, but has a great rib combo plate for around $10. Always a favorite.
