My friends who were big Celine fans bought tickets to her show, paid for a night at the Bellagio and flew in. It was a birthday present for one of them. Celine cancelled the show that night. I hear that happens a lot. Later they had a party at their house where they broke as many of her CDs as they had. Hope it works out for you.

I read that this year Celine has cancelled 10 shows -- 6 due to a viral infection and 4 due to a sprained neck, but that in the previous 2 years since the show opened she had not missed a performance. She has now performed the show over 500 times. I'm not sure I'd call those 10 "a lot".
But then I'm not sure how accurate that information is, either.
Frankly, I wouldn't pay more than about $10 -- just not interested.
Now when Cher takes over in 2008. . .that might be interesting.

Ooops. I should have googled first. This article totally contradicts what I just reported:

(note: the information is from 2004 during her second year there)

My niece was also dissappointed by a Celine cancellation at the last minute. She had saved for both show tickets and the flight cross country only to arrive and hear that Celine would not be performing. Since the show was her reason for the long weekend trip it was quite a letdown.

Suzie, you may have missed my point. I already said that she had cancelled 10 shows in 2006. The article was about shows before that time.
Cher's farewell tours? Right. She is already under contract with Caesar's and they are building an entire new venue for her spectacular which will open in 2008!

My mother's close friend and traveling buddy really wanted to see this show. Mom is not a Celine fan at all, but likes Vegas, so agreed to go with her (flying in from PVD). Mom really, really enjoyed it and said it was quite a "spectacle" and worth every penny.
DH & I saw Elton John's Red Piano show in the same room. Loved the show, but the "house" wine in a little plastic cup for $15 was a bit much.

Only YOU can decide if Celine is worth $$$. Everyone had different thoughts on what something is "worth" to them. If you are a big fan, have the money then do it .. if not then don't. Personally I do not like Celine so I would not spend the $$$. I do not go to shows because "everyone" says they are "good".
Personal taste dictates what one chooses to spend money on, whether it is shows, hotels, cars, homes, clothing, etc. Why spend the money if you don't like something ?? or is it just to say you did it?

Regarding the second part of your question "what shows would you see" - again, what do you like? What I like is my taste. The Cirque shows are all over Vegas, the new one being Love (based on Beatles music). If you are a Cirque fan choose one of them.
If you like musical stage shows (i.e., Broadway) then go see Mamma Mia or Phantom of the Opera. I like that type of show, but again that is my personal taste.
Like magic? Lance Burton is very good.
The list is endless so you need to see what interests you.
