Some may remember previous posts concerning hotels in Buffalo NY and mention of the newly opened Hotel Henry in the renovated Buffalo State Asylum for the Insane. Here's a link to a video of last summer's celebration that gives an introduction to what has been accomplished so far and to the challenges ahead.

>>The Richardson Olmsted Campus was originally known as the Buffalo State Asylum for the Insane. Built in 1872, the building was designed by H.H. Richardson with grounds by Frederick Law Olmsted to promote health and healing. The National Historic Landmark building fell into disuse and disrepair in the late 20th century. It has been painstakingly renovated and is now open once again, housing a hotel, a history center and a restaurant. enLIGHTen Buffalo -[was a sound and light celebration of] the years of dedication it took to revitalize this treasure, with music by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.

It's a remarkable building, isn't it? A castle in the middle of the city. I was fortunate enough to work nearby and every day when I walked out to my car in the parking lot I was greeted by the sight of those towers.
