Celebrating 30th in Boston
A friend and I are going the Boston for the weekend to celebrate my birthday at the end of the month. What are some fun pubs/bars we should visit? We plan to go to Fenway to see the Sox play and want to do some shopping. Any suggestions? What are the must sees/dos? We will be there only 3 days.

I recommend checking out the Northend/Little Italy. Tons of great restaurants. I was there for a birthday too and we made sure to hit Mike's Pastries in the Northend. Amazing pastries and they tie them up in a cute little box. Just look for the place with the line. Have fun!

My husband and I are moving to boston...We are 26 and 30...Are there any places/neighborhoods in the city that are more 'yuppie' or young 20-30 somethings? We'll probably be getting a condo/townhouse of some sort, but have no idea what the best neighborhoods are? Price isnt an issue...any ideas out there? THanks a million!!!

well- A lot of Boston is pretty yuppie. South Boston is a suburb that is filled with a lot of young people. You could probably get a decent townhouse for about 600,000-800,000.
There are plenty of great neighborhoods-some will be more blue blood (read: snotty) than others.

Rebecca - Have you ever actually been to South Boston - which part of it do you think is suburban - would that be the Old Colony project or the container yard at the Black Falcon terminal? And where exactly would you find townhouses? Those buildings are called triple deckers because 3 generations of one family could all live together in their own apartments. Townhouses - my my are we gettin fancy.
I know Southie is changing and becoming more attractive to yuppies (my brother included) but suburban and townhouses??? Those of us who remember the white flight of the 70s are really getting a kick out of that description.

I would recommend Charlestown. It is slightly/barley removed from the crazy downtown traffic and construction. It is its own charming neighborhood. There is an amazing blend of the old school lifers who have grown up and remain in Charlestown - and the new "yuppie" young couples. It is a growing area and can only get better based on the rehabs, new restaurants and retail space. I would say a 2 bdroom 1 or 2 bath condo/townhouse would start at around $350,000 .
It really is a great place!
