Hi 2 dogs,
The only remote possibility is using St. George to see Zion. It would be an hour drive one way. Not nearly as wonderful as staying in or just outside the park in Sprindale.
The other parks are MUCH too far away from either city. You need to look at a map and get some mileage estimates.
Really, using timeshares to stay at a "resort" is not usually the best way to see western US National Parks. Most are in very remote locations......

Cedar City is about the same distance and travel time to Springdale as St. George. It is a bit closer to the Kolob Canyon section of Zion, and probably about 30 minutes or so closer to Bryce than St. George. The drive between Cedar City and Bryce would be much better (scenery-wise) in fall than from Zion to Bryce. Cedar Breaks National Monument is not far from Cedar City and should be nice in fall, provided there isn't an early snowfall.
As already mentioned, neither city is at all close to Moab. If you have a Jeep and camping gear, camp inside the parks as much as you can.

thanks for the replys...sometimes maps give distance but not real time drive time due to the actual physical road conditions such as mountain driving and back road...as stated, either point is just a base to begin and end at...both destinations bill themselves "gateway to" and you know the rest...as stated we have a jeep 4x4 grand cherokee and extensive camping equiptment...we plan to stay in the NP as much as possible...we did Moab one time from a resort in Mesa CO east of Grand Junction and didnt mind the drive, camping all the way...Hell we even based out of Surfers Paradise Australia at a golf resort but that didnt keep us out of Barriar Reef, outback and hinterland...thanks again on the real report of distance and "Gateway To" ... like I said, we are in the planning stage and I am sure will be indebted to each of you for more valuable info..
