Cass Hotel - Chicago

Anyone stayed here recently? Good or bad? Any comments would be appreciated. Is this place suitable for 2 women in town for a shopping week-end? Seems like a really good price & location (Wabash) but is the place clean & safe?

Must confess I have never set foot in the Cass Hotel, though have worked across the street for years. It doesn't really look like a tourist hotel, more like, say, an SRO. Yes, the neighborhood is fine, and very convenient for shopping.

Marily, thanks for the reply. It's helpful. Hopefully someone with experience staying in the hotel can comment on the rooms, size, cleaniness, etc. Excuse my ignorance, but what does SRO stand for?

SRO = single room occupancy. This is the kind of housing that working poor unable to get together the money for a security deposit to rent an apartment have to live in. What I mean is that the Cass (from the outside) does not look like a hotel the average tourist would want to stay in.

Susan,
The Cass Hotel is definitely mostly a
month-to month housing place and not
much of a "hotel". The neighborhood,
however, is the perfect shopping
location. Have you looked at the
website www.hotrooms.com? (discount
chicago hotels). Good Luck !!
