Carmel Bed and Breakfasts

Can anyone recommend a bed and breakfast in the Carmel-by-the-Sea or Monterrey area?
We will be visiting in August or September, 2000.
Thanks!

Alan,

If you can push it back slightly, the September time frame we think is best. The B & B question has come up so often that I have a Word Document that I will send you. I believe it lists most of the B & B's in Monterey, Pacific Grove and Carmel. If you need anything else after that, just shout.

Seven Gables Inn and Green Gables both in Pacific Grove are wonderful. Not too many B&Bs in Monterey. In Carmel mostly small low rise inns such as La Playa, the Lamplighter,Pine Inn, The Wayside Inn, Cypress Inn etc. Make reservations a couple months in advance for August or September. Enjoy. Was just there yesterday--blue skies, cold, but lots of otters and seals. Still playing golf at Pebble, deer still getting in the way of the golfers. Wonderful part of the world!

We have stayed at the Sandpiper Inn a couple of times and we like its location a 1/2 block from the beach and a little out of town but within walking distance. Their prices are moderate and their breakfasts have been excellent. The can find them listed at http://www.bbdirectory.com under Carmel.

Rachel, Better start getting moving for THanksgiving! Most places have a 2 day minimum over weekends and holidays. Two that I would recommend that don't are the Carmel Village Inn at the top of Ocean Ave. at Junipero St. and the Pine Inn, the old stagecoach inn. There are a number of inns that are all basically the same belonging to Inns by the Sea and you can call them at (800) 433-4732. Reasonable prices and acceptable accomodations. My favorite in Carmel is Doris Day's Cypress Inn but maybe that's cause we can bring the dogs. It might be cool and could be raining by then. Carmel's still great, but don't try Big Sur in the rain/fog.

I just stayed at CArmel Garden Court Inn
in September. It was a lovely little
place within walking distance of everything that matters. We had a charming room with fireplace and our own
patio filled with flowers, kitchenette and continental breakfast. However I thought the bathrooms were pretty tiny, and the price a little steep. It was
$250 a night for a king-bed room. But if you like quaint and charming and being right in the heart of Carmel, they you'll like this. I found it in the AAA book.
