Carmel & Big Sur plan continued

For some reason, the link to post a reply disappeared from my previous posts so I am starting this one. Thanks again for all of the advice. We have decided to definitely drive through SF on Sunday night and stay in one of the airport hotels. I am going to try using priceline to get a good deal so I can spend more on a place to stay in Carmel the next night. I will keep everyone posted if I learn anything helpful and I will try to give a trip report too.

If I were you I would drive futher south and stay the night in San Jose instead of near the SF airport. There's not much at all around the airport and also you will get caught up in the traffic the next day heading south on either 101 or 280 into San Jose. At least if you leave from San Jose the next day you will be going against the traffic since most people are heading into the city.

Staying the night in the San Jose area makes a lot of sense.

I was already checking out that possibility so your advice is appreciated. It is probably only about another 30 minutes?

Yes, it would be about another 30 - 40 minutes to get down to the city from SF airport.
