car rental florida

Any advice or tips on an affordable car weekly rental? I dont travel much and I did some shopping around before I booked my flight. I even tried priceline, hotwire etc. I booked my flight on southwest, $99 internet special. I didnt realize until the next day when I was browsing their site, they had a link to package deals flight & car. I had priced for a car on their site but had found no good deals. If I had went with the package I could have gotten a mini van for $63 more for the week. If I cancel the reservation, I can only apply credit to flight only. I checked all the sites, & after all the taxes & fees are added - the cheapest is $300 for a economy/compact. Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

I usually check the individual rental sites and I check them often. Also, if you belong to Costco, you can go to there online site for an additional 5-20% off car rentals.

You don't indicate when you're needing the car - if it's around the holidays, that will affect your best available price.

...and that $63 a week deal doesn't sound right....was probably $63 more per person for each person in the package, based on 2 or 4 people or whatever.

Thank you all for your help, I will try these. I am going mid December, so it should be so pricey.
