Cape Cod Vacation - Where To Stay?
My husband and I will be vacationing on Cape Cod this summer in late August. We'd welcome advice on where to stay. We'd like to avoid driving and rely on bicycles as much as possible and will also take the ferry to Martha's Vineyard on a day trip. We're considering Fort Hill B&B in Eastham, The colony in Wellfleet, Inn on the Sound in Hyannis or Dunscroft By the Sea Harwich Port (near chatham).

We love Fort Hill Bed and Breakfast in the Fort Hill Area of the National Seashore. The location in the middle of the park with trails and views all around just can't be beat. I have not stayed at the other places you mentioned, but I can say that Fort Hill B+B is about the nicest place we have stayed on the Cape. The suites and cottage are impeccably clean, tastefully decorated and the gourmet breakfast is to die for. The innkeepers are really helpful but not "in your face" kind of people. Eastham is in a great location for seeing and getting to Provincetown, Chatham, Wellfleet, and Hyannis. Biking on the outer cape is a snap with the bike trail the stretches from Dennis to Wellfleet.
Taking a day trip to MV out of Woodshole will require some planning....Woodshole is kind of off on a little piece of land at the upper cape by itself. When staying at Fort Hill, we usually take the fast ferry to Nantucket out of Hyannis for a day trip to an island. It is much easier to walk and bike around Nantucket because it is a smaller island...And much easier to get to the ferry from the mid-cape, lower cape and outer cape areas you are looking at.
