Cape Cod traffic in October

How is the traffic right after the Columbus Day holiday going to Cape Cod please?

I'm going to Boston in mid-October and I
want to stay in the outskirts so I will also need the name of a place between Boston and the Cape where I can stay with mid-range lodging prices - nothing over $190 if possible.

Thank you very much. Am enjoying reading all the postings.

Cape cod traffic after Columbus day will be minimal, if there's any at all. DOn't worry about it.

AS for a place between Boston and the cape to stay - that's kind of tough. I can't think of anything except for motels - which will certainly be under your price limit. THe motel 6 in Braintree comes to mind. But why do you want to stay halfway between Boston and the Cape? Doing that will make getting into Boston for the day a real pain. (You should NOT drive in Boston). Why not stay in the city instead? YOur experience will be better.

Hi Charles: Thank you. I'd love to stay in Boston, but the hotels are way over what I could pay. I'd like something where it would be easier to walk around, but my physical limitations are limited. If I could stay somewhere where I could catch the trolley closeby that would be nice. I drove there last year and found it fine..then again, I've lived and driven in all the major US cities. LOL

Well, if you're comfortable driving in Boston, the Motel 6 in Braintree will probably be the best combination of cheap and convenient. YOu might try the Midtown Motel in Boston on Huntingdon (reviewed frequently on this board). Usually it will be under your price, and
has free parking, and is in the center of town. It is right near a subway.

The Motel 6 Braintee is close to the rapid transit line that will take you to Boston in around 20 minutes for a cheap fare. It is easy, convenient and won't get you tangled up in all that nasty traffic. I lived it, worked it and hated the commute. Amy, you are correct about hotel prices in Boston. They are quite high. If you still prefer to drive there is a new Red Roof Inn just off Rt 95 in Foxboro that is only about $69 and very convenient to RT 495 which is a fast straight-line 1 hr drive to Cape Cod yet convenient to Boston and Providence RI as well.
