We were on Cape Cod just for a brief visit week before last. I second Kreme 'n Kone for fried seafood. I had the oyster platter, and both the oysters and the onion rings were super.

I'm writing form Portugal and I intend to visit for the very first time Cape cod, but only for one day. Is it worthwhile to visit Martha's Vineyard?

If you are only there for one day, you will spend the whole day at Martha's Vineyard. So if you want to see anything else on the Cape, you will not have time.

M.V. is a great place to visit but with only one day I would suggest you visit the National Seashore on the Cape instead. You can go to Coast Guard Beach in Eastham and see one of the great treasures of the U.S.

If you use Eastham as your base you can see quite a lot in one day. Provincetown is 30 minutes to the north (east), Wellfleet is 10 minutes, Orleans is 5 minutes and Chatham is 20 minutes to the south. The National Seashore Salt Pond Visitor's Center is in Eastham with varied walking trails from the gorgeous Fort Hill Area overlook/trails to Nauset Marsh trail. Lighthouses, long sandy beaches and dunes on the east side and Cape Cod Bay beaches on the west give a nice variety of beaches and tides. The bike trail goes through Eastham to Wellfleet and Dennis.

I agree with Bowsprit about skipping MV for this short visit to focus on seeing the unique landscape/quant villages of the outer cape.

You really can't go wrong with any of your choices on the Cape and Islands. It's all beautiful and all worth a visit. Have fun!

Two places my family enjoys going to is the fishing pier in Chatham where you get to see the boats unload. The kids really love that, adults too. Also the cape cod potato chip factory tour is neat, kind of short but fun to do anyway

Seals will also visit the Chatham Fish Pier when the fishermen bring in their catch late afternoons.
