cape arundel inn

we are planning a few days away for my parents 40th annivesary and i was considering the cape arundel inn in kennebunkport, maine.

has anybody stayed there and can comment on it. we are planning for 4 nights in august. this place appeals to me as i understand that it sits right on the ocean. any comments both good and bad or any other suggestions in the $200 per night range would be appreciated. thanks

It is a spectacular location, right on Ocean Drive near Walker Point where President Bush lives. The owners also own a restaurant in Kennebunkport called the Saltmarsh Tavern, which is very good and has a wonderful piano player on weekends; I've never been able to stump her with a request. I have not stayed at the Cape Arundel Inn, but I have been there to see it; I would say you can't go wrong.

If you go to the Yankee magazine website (www.newengland.com), the Photo of the Week is a home in Kennebunkport on Ocean Drive, just down the road from the Inn.

Cape Arundel is a great choice. You may want to also check out the 1802 house, Captain's Hideaway, Captain Lord Mansion, the Old Fort or the Maine Stay. They all have web sites or you can check out the Kennebunkport chambers web site at www.kkcc.maine.org

I remember making a detour off the highway to see Kennebunkport on my way from Boston to visit a friend in Portland, ME. I must say it is a very picturesque and charming town. The coast is extraordinary. Hope my kids will have as great an idea for us someday.
